Ways to Include United Way in Your Legacy
A charitable gift through your will or estate plan can be both simple and flexible. With guidance from an attorney or professional advisor, you can choose the option that best reflects your wishes.
You may:
- Leave a specific dollar amount or asset
- Designate a percentage of your estate
- Give all or a portion of the remaining balance of your estate
- Name United Way of the Blue Mountains as a beneficiary of an eligible retirement account, financial account, life insurance policy, or other asset

Another Tax-Smart Way to Give
Make a Gift From Your IRA
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD, directly from an eligible IRA to United Way of the Blue Mountains.
A QCD may be excluded from your taxable income and, if you are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution, may count toward that annual requirement. This can make it a meaningful and tax-efficient way to support people and communities across the Blue Mountain region.
