Hi! My name is Edith Martinez, and I’m honored to serve as a College and Career Readiness Advisor at College Place High School. I am passionate about walking alongside students and their families as they plan for life after high school whether that’s through college, apprenticeships, trade programs, the military, or other opportunities that align with their goals and dreams.
I grew up in Mexico until the age of 11 before returning to the United States, where I learned a new language and adapted to a new culture. As a proud first-generation college graduate, I know firsthand the challenges and the opportunities that come with pursuing education after high school. I earned my AAS degree in Human and Social Services from Walla Walla Community College, and my journey has inspired me to help students discover their own paths and believe in their potential.
Over the past several years, I’ve worked in education in roles that allowed me to connect closely with students and families. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a deep passion for closing the gap between the education system and my Hispanic/Latino community. Nothing brings me more joy than helping students explore their options, set meaningful goals, and take confident steps toward their future.
I’m excited to continue this journey as a College and Career Readiness Advisor and look forward to partnering with students and families as they dream big and achieve their goals. Please know that my door is always open. I'm here to help in any way I can!
¡Hola! Mi nombre es Edith Martinez y es un honor para mí servir como Asesora de Preparación Universitaria y Profesional en College Place High School. Me apasiona acompañar a los estudiantes y a sus familias mientras planean su vida después de la preparatoria, ya sea a través de la universidad, programas técnicos, aprendizajes, el servicio militar u otras oportunidades que se alineen con sus metas y sueños.
Crecí en México hasta los 11 años antes de regresar a los Estados Unidos, donde tuve que aprender un nuevo idioma y adaptarme a una nueva cultura. Como orgullosa estudiante universitaria de primera generación, entiendo de primera mano los desafíos y también las oportunidades que vienen con continuar los estudios después de la preparatoria. Obtuve mi título de Asociado en Servicios Humanos y Sociales en Walla Walla Community College, y mi camino personal me ha inspirado a ayudar a los estudiantes a descubrir sus propias rutas y a creer en su potencial.
Durante los últimos años he trabajado en la educación en distintos roles que me han permitido conectar de cerca con estudiantes y familias. A través de estas experiencias, he desarrollado una profunda pasión por cerrar la brecha entre el sistema educativo y mi comunidad Hispana/Latina. Nada me da más alegría que ayudar a los estudiantes a explorar sus opciones, establecer metas significativas y dar pasos seguros hacia su futuro.
Estoy muy emocionada de continuar este camino como Asesora de Preparación Universitaria y Profesional y espero poder colaborar con estudiantes y familias mientras sueñan en grande y alcanzan sus metas. Por favor, sepan que mi puerta siempre está abierta ¡estoy aquí para ayudar en todo lo que pueda!
